A digital illustration of a pink poppy flower with soft, ruffled petals and a green, hairy stem against a solid blue background.

The seemingly modest stem enables the flower to thrive, supporting and holding it upright, helping it reach the light.

Through this piece, I hope everyone has at least one person who supports and helps them shine bright.

Calm on the outside, but messy on the inside. Trying to be strong, though there’s the weight of the world on her shoulders. Worrying about her loved ones, worrying about herself, feeling inadequate. Only tears reveal something’s going on beneath the surface.

While making this piece, I thought about overachievement and the pressure we set for ourselves, but also about the current state of the world, where mums and dads try to protect their children and keep them safe from the unkind world.

Digital illustration of a woman with curly dark hair, blue eyes, and freckles, looking directly at the viewer with a tear on her cheek, against a pastel rainbow gradient background.

I find myself thinking about it, surprisingly often, and this piece was born from one of those moments. Though there’s no brontosaurus here.
